What’s Happening at Good Shepherd This Week
Welcome! It is our pleasure to congratulate the Manwaring family on the arrival of their daughter, Eliza Mae. Most importantly, please pray for their family as they adjust to life with a new baby. As is the tradition at Good Shepherd, even in these strange times, we encourage the congregation to consider bringing meals to the family so that we can help ease the first few weeks of life with a new family member. If you are able to provide a meal, that would be great! They have no allergies but dislike seafood, peppers, tomatoes and mushrooms. Please call or text ahead before dropping off the meal. You can sign up on the schedule here: https://takethemameal.com/meals.php?t=EBDS5187&welcome=1
Youth Group has resumed meeting!
The meetings will be held in the sanctuary of GS to maintain social distancing suggestions. Masks will not be required as there is plenty of room to keep healthy space between all members.
If any child is showing symptoms of illness or running a fever, please keep the entire family home to help prevent the spread of illnesses.
Please join us in praying for a wonderful new year of ministry, worship, and growth for the youth of Good Shepherd.
Tuesday Morning Bible Study This class is currently studying the book of Ephesians, and have picked back up where they left off in chapter 5. This class can be watched in person at 360 Conklin Ave. in the parish hall, and can also be viewed online. If you missed last week’s class, you can watch it here.
Thursday Evening Bible Study has also resumed. This class is currently studying the book of Ruth. If you missed the previous class, you can watch it here.
Friday Morning Men’s Breakfast will continue to meet as usual.
Mission Groups exist to bring glory to God as we help each other become more like Christ for the sake of His kingdom and church. If you are looking for a way to get involved, grow in community, and deepen your understanding of God’s word, Mission Groups are for you. And we are excited to start them up again this month! Please consider the list below, and if you are interested in joining any particular group, please contact that leader. If you have any questions, or would like to host or lead a group yourself, please talk with Jonathan Groves.
See the paper bulletin on Sunday for more information on dates and locations.
Sunday Morning Worship and Christian Ed
A Message from Matt – Broom County Advisory: I am aware that Broome County Executive Jason Garnar issued an advisory regarding the Covid 19 spike in our area. If you have any concerns about your safety, please stay home and do not feel obligated to attend worship in person. That’s why we have worked hard to create a quality livestream. Since, however, this is just an advisory and not a mandate, services will be held as usual this Sunday. If you missed my note to the church regarding the upstairs service (mask required) and the downstairs service (mask optional), please be sure to read it here.
Both the 8am Service and the 10:30 service will be held in person at Good Shepherd each Sunday. We ask that if you come into the building for the services that you wear a mask unless you are unable, due to health reasons, and that social distancing be practiced at all times. Christian Education will still be live-streamed and is open to the public, however the class is being in the parish hall part of the building with masking optional, but we do ask that everyone social distance responsibly. The 8am Worship service will not be live-streamed, but the 10:30 service will be available to experience online as well as in person on the property in both the sanctuary and the outdoor worship space.
Christian Education will begin at 9:15 and will be available at this link. Currently, Matt Kennedy is teaching a series called Controversies of the Apostolic Age.
If you missed Christian Ed last Sunday, you can watch it here.
The live-stream of the 10:30 service will be posted on Facebook each week. The stream will begin on Sunday starting at 10:20am but the service will not start until 10:30am. You should be able to access it at this link. If you don’t have a Facebook account, you will still be able to view all of the services, classes and studies.
You can download the bulletin, including the scripture readings if you click on this link. In the bulletin, you’ll notice that there are links in the offertory section to take you out to two different means of giving electronically. If you would like to send your tithe electronically, these are the best ways to do so. You can still send your tithe in by traditional mail as well.
