Evening Worship Service Good Shepherd will have the next monthly informal Sunday evening service on March 31st, at 6pm. Coffee/tea and snack will be served at 5.30pm in the Fellowship Hall. This is a great opportunity to invite friends/family/neighbors who are considering coming to church or who are wondering about faith to a peaceful, reflective gathering with lovely worship songs, scripture readings, prayer, and time to simply be in the presence of God together. Please contact Anne T. with any questions, thoughts, etc.
Lenten Open Worship Every Wednesday evening from 7:30- 8:30 pm during Lent the church will be open for a time of worship and prayer. All are welcome to come and listen, pray, journal, or just meditate on Christ’s mercy and finished work. Call or text Ronnie M. or the church office with any questions.
Episcopal Visit Bishop Dobbs is visiting Good Shepherd this weekend. He will be preaching and teaching Christian Ed. There will also be a Q&A session following the 10:30 service in the parish hall.
Annual CHE Rummage Sale Spring has semi-sprung, and this means we are collecting for our Epic Rummage Sale to support the work of Community Health Evangelism, Nicaragua. Particularly their new project to help families start keeping chickens to improve nutrition in these difficult times. If, while spring-cleaning, you find items that no longer spark joy – but might for someone else – please call Anne T. to check that we will be at church to take the items on a Sunday. No clothes, no exercise equipment, please. If you know anyone who has to clear out a house, please give them my number. The sale is May 24th and 25th. Thank you for all your past support, it has been invaluable.

Good Shepherd Food Pantry What do you think of when you think of spring? Why, spring cleaning, of course! Please consider taking some time to go through your own pantry and pick out a few things to give to the member food pantry. Every food item donated helps those who can’t afford to feed themselves and their family. Instead of going to the store and buying things, take from what you have on hand and be thankful in the knowledge that you have the ability to do so.
Items needed: pasta sauce, one box meals, powdered milk, canned fruit, juice, coffee, tea, and cocoa, canned veggies other than beans, canned ham, chicken, beef and Tina, cereal and cereal bars, and anything else you’d like to bring.
Last Week in Christian Ed Last Sunday we completed our Systematic Theology discussion of God’s will by discussing how God’s will relates to ours. What does it mean to say that God’s will is free? Is his freedom of will limited by the fact that he can only choose to do good things? Isn’t freedom, the ability to choose good or evil?
Last Week’s Sermon was called ‘No One Ever Spoke Like this Man’ and was based on John 7:40-52. It can be listened to or downloaded here.
Preventing Grace Podcast Did you know that Matt and Anne have a podcast? They talk about everything from church polity to rustic breads. Anne wasn’t feeling so well this week, so we are reposting one of the most downloaded episodes, ‘Royal Wedding Redux’, which includes our review of Presiding Bishop Michael Curry’s famous sermon at the Royal Wedding of Prince Henry and Meghan Markel.
You can catch up on all of the older podcast episodes here.
Tuesday Morning Bible Study Last Tuesday We finished up Leviticus 22 and moved to chapter 23 where God describes all the major feasts of the year. You can watch the recording here, or in the window below.

This Sunday’s Sermon will be based on Mark 8:31-38.
And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again. And he said this plainly. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”
And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”
