What’s Happening at Good Shepherd This Week
Catechesis Schedule Change Modified Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is now happening during Christian Ed time at 9:15.
Movie Night! There will be a movie night for the youth group kids at the Groves’ house this evening.
Please drop the kids off at 5:00 pm and pick them up at 8pm (if you need to drop off or pick up earlier than those times, please talk to Jon Groves). We are asking for everyone to bring their favorite snack and/or drink to share. We will provide pizza.
The Groves home is located at 5 Hancock St. Binghamton, NY 13903
Coffee Hour As you may have heard, coffee hour has resumed! While we are not serving lunch, there will be coffee and tea available after the 10:30 service in the parish hall each Sunday. If you would like to help with this ministry by making a couple of posts of coffee one Sunday a month, please contact Steph or Carrie Nelson.
Minister’s Calendars The new minister’s calendars are now available. If you would like a paper copy, please see the usher’s table in the narthex or contact Jonathan.
If you are interested in serving as part of a ministry team, please contact Jonathan or Steph to find out where you could be most helpful.
Ordination Two weeks ago, many Good Shepherd friends and family were at Synod to witness both Ife and Tyler being ordained in the Anglican church as a presbyter and deacon. Both of their lives will be changing drastically over the next few months. Please join us in praying for them and their families as part of your regular intercessions.
A Letter from Ife~
Dear Saints at Good Shepherd,
I want to first express my thanks for the many well wishes extended to Lisa and me on the occasion of my graduation from seminary and ordination. I am so thankful for your prayerful support and encouragement, not only in the past four years at seminary, but in the previous 8+ years I was youth minister and pastoral assistant among you. For your work in helping to discern God’s call upon me to vocational ministry and your patience with me as I grew in fits and starts in that calling.
It will be our honor to have you bear witness to God’s faithfulness as I am installed as rector of Church of the Holy Trinity, Syracuse.
Affectionately yours in Christ,
Installation Service Details On July 10th at 10am, The Rev. Ife Ojetayo will be installed as rector at Holy Trinity Church in Syracuse, NY.
If you would like to attend, but are unable to get transportation, please contact the office and we will try to get you a ride.
Large Print Bulletins are available upon request for both services. If you need a large print bulletin, please contact the office before next Sunday’s services.
Zoom Morning Prayer This service meets online by zoom at 7am Monday through Friday. The liturgy and readings are available each day at www.dailyoffice2019.com. This is a great way to get back to reading the bible and prayer. Join the parish email list and look for a daily email invitation in your inbox.
Sunday Morning Worship
Both the 8am and the 10:30 services are meeting in person.
The 8am service If you are high risk, or at all nervous to be in social gatherings, this service is designed for you. All those who attend are asked to wear masks and remain socially distanced throughout the service. The 8am service is not currently being live-streamed.
The 10:30am service is currently observing ‘restaurant-style’ masking guidelines which means that while seated, masks are optional. We ask that those attending wear masks when entering, leaving, or walking from one place to another (unless you are unable due to health reasons) and practice social distancing of at least six feet between your family and the next grouping. We are utilizing the honor system for masking and will not ask for proof of vaccination.
You can download the bulletin, including the scripture readings here. One of the joys of having a fully digital bulletin is that we are free to use color! You’ll find that some of the artwork and many of the directions are in full color. You’ll also notice that there are links in the offertory section to take you out to two different means of giving electronically. You can give online through Breeze or you can text a donation through Breeze at 607-882-6551. Good Shepherd also has a PayPal account. If you choose to give via PayPal you can avoid fees by paying directly from your bank. Be sure to uncheck the box that says, “paying for goods and services” at the bottom or paypal will charge Good Shepherd a fee. As always, thank you for your great generosity and kind support.
The lectionary readings for this week are: Deuteronomy 15:7-11, Psalm 112, 2 Corinthians 8:1-15, and Mark 5:22-43.
The 10:30 service is also available via livestream. You can access the stream at this link. The stream begins every Sunday at 10:20am but the service does not start until 10:30am. If you do not have a Facebook account, you will still be able to view all of the services, classes, and studies.
Christian Education begins at 9:15am and will continue to be live-streamed, however the class is open to the public with the same guidelines as the 10:30 service. It will be will be available at this link.
