Rev. Matt Kennedy
Matt is the rector (senior pastor) of the Church of the Good Shepherd. He grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and graduated with a B.A. in History from Southwestern University in Georgetown TX in 1994. After being brought to faith in Jesus Christ in 1995, he served as a youth minister at Ascension Church in Houston from 1997 to 1999. While there, Matt entered the process for ordination to the pastorate. He earned his Masters of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS) in Alexandria VA where also met and married his wife Anne. Matt graduated from VTS with honors in 2002 and accepted the call to be rector of Church of the Good Shepherd in Binghamton, New York. Matt’s primary gifts lie in expositional preaching and teaching. He preaches most Sundays, leads weekly bible studies, teaches the adult Christian education class, writes regularly for the Anglican blog “Stand Firm”, and does a great deal of pastoral counseling. Matt and Anne have six children between the ages 13 to 4 and with what little spare time he has, he enjoys cooking Indian food and reading.
Rev. Anne Kennedy
Anne is the Women and Children’s minister at Church of the Good Shepherd. She grew up in Mali, West Africa, the child of Wycliffe Bible Translators. She came to America in 1995 for college and earned a B.A., in 1999, from Cornell University in French and English Literature. She went straight from there to seminary in Virginia where she met Matt. After graduating in 2002 she followed him here to Binghamton. Anne homeschools her six children, blogs almost every day, and makes lots of coffee in the church.
