What’s Happening at Good Shepherd This Week
A Note from the Van Fossens The Van Fossen Family would like to thank all those who contributed to their Christmas gift this year. We appreciate the continual generosity and kindness you offer our family in many ways throughout the entire year. This charitable gift during the Christmas season reminds us of how God has surrounded us with a loving, supportive, and caring church family. It’s never expected, but very much appreciated! God bless!
Annual Meeting Notice The 2020 Annual meeting will be held on January 19th immediately following the 10:30 service. This meeting is where business of the church is discussed and decided. Please make every effort to stay after for this important meeting. There will be soup and crusty bread provided for lunch.
Women’s Bible Study The Women’s Bible Study meets every Saturday morning from 10 to 11AM. Women of various ages join together to study the bible, moving book by book, and verse by verse. All women are extended a warm invitation to attend. The ladies are currently studying the book of Psalms. The Psalms express so much from praise, forgiveness and gratitude for God’s grace and so much more. Join us while we study this ancient collection of songs and poems that has been woven into our worship services for centuries. Please contact Christine Osgood for more information.
Thursday Evening Beginner’s Bible Study The Thursday evening bible study will be cancelled until February.

Preventing Grace Podcast In this podcast Anne and Matt discuss a video in which Francis Chan claims that before the Reformation there were no divisions in the church, everyone believed the eucharist was “literally” the body and blood of Jesus and that the center of worship was the eucharist, not preaching. We also talk about World War 3

This Sunday’s Sermon will be based on John 12:27-36.
“Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But for this purpose I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.” The crowd that stood there and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.” Jesus answered, “This voice has come for your sake, not mine. Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” He said this to show by what kind of death he was going to die. So the crowd answered him, “We have heard from the Law that the Christ remains forever. How can you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?” So Jesus said to them, “The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.”
When Jesus had said these things, he departed and hid himself from them.
